The second season of Indian Premier League which is well abbreviated as IPL 2 or IPL 2009 was played between 18th April 2009 between 24th May 2009. The 2nd season of IPL was hosted in South Africa due to general election in India. The competition started with a double round robin group stage, in which each of the 8 teams played a home match and an away match against every other team.
